How We Serve

Within our congregation

"For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve." Mark 10:45

As we try to follow the example of Jesus, we serve in various ways on an ongoing basis or with special projects. At the same time, we often become aware of new needs and ask how Christ invites us to respond--within our congregation, in our local Reno/Sparks community, and beyond.

We serve members and friends of our congregation through:

Prayer Team (also called the Prayer Chain): Prays for all those who make a prayer request on Sundays and throughout the week.

Good Grief Team: Offers hospitality to grieving loved ones by providing a lunch or reception following funerals and memorial services at the church.

Shepherding: A team of "shepherds" shares responsibility for the whole congregation, staying up to date with five to ten families each, for example through sending cards for special occasions or times of special need. As our congregation grows, we are always looking for new shepherds to join the team!

Meals Ministry: Members provide meals for individuals and families in our congregation in times of need--after a birth or death, during an illness or recovery from surgery.

Hearts and Hands Quilters: See "How We Grow," Adult Fellowship, for a description.

Knit Together: An intergenerational group of crafters ages 9-99, who like to knit and crochet. Learners are welcome. Older kids, teens, and men are welcome.
